Susana Miranda nasceu em Lisboa, em 1974. Concluiu a sua licenciatura em Artes Plásticas – Escultura na Faculdade de Belas Artes de Lisboa em Janeiro de 2001. Em 2010, terminou o Mestrado em Ensino das Artes Visuais da Universidade de Lisboa, cujo projecto final foi realizado com a colaboração da Casa das Histórias Paula Rego.

Susana Miranda desenvolve o seu trabalho em Escultura num espaço cedido pela fábrica Urmal, em Montelavar, perto de Sintra. Susana expõe desde 1998. Está representada em colecções particulares e na Galeria Trema – Arte Contemporanea. Para além de escultora e artista plástica, é também professora de Artes Visuais desde 2003.

Susana Miranda sculpts stone in Urmal, Montelavar, near Sintra. She has exhibited her work since 1998 and is represented in private collections. Susana Miranda has maintained a consistant and rigorous artistic work for sixteenyears. Her sculptures are based on the analogies between the human body and other living forms. The fragility of human condition and the search and desire to overcome that same state of being , is the main theme. The transformation of the human body (the fragment) seeks to represent the overcome of a phisical, mental or emotional difficulty. The human trascends itself through the analogy between an animal or a flower, through the possibility of a movement of the body, or through its subtle transformation.
