Desde que desenvolveu a técnica do dripping, as pinturas de JOH (Jorge Humberto) assemelham-se a esculturas em 3D.

As pinturas de Humberto são executadas em suportes de madeira, tela e papel, cada uma com uma forma diferente e única.

O suporte é revestido com uma mistura de pigmento e óleo; essa mistura é «gotejada» em centenas de linhas finas que criam a ilusão de tridimensionalidade e conferem ao trabalho uma textura semelhante ao tecido.

'Cada obra precisa de um gesto diferente, determinado a cada momento pela forma do suporte', explica Humberto, que executa minuciosamente cada peça à mão. Ele diz que suas criações questionam a definição de uma escultura. 'É uma pintura 3D ou uma escultura 2D', ele questiona.

Since  personally developing the dripping  technique, paintings by JOH resemble sculptures.

Humberto's paintings are executed on wooden, canvas and paper support, each with a different and unique shape. The support is coated with a mix of pigment and oil; this mix is dripped in hundreds of fine lines that – while creating the illusion of tridimensionality – give the work a texture similar to fabric.
'Every work needs a different gesture, determined each time by the shape of the support,' explains Humberto, who painstakingly executes each piece by hand. He says his creations question the definition of a sculpture. 'Is it a 3D painting or a 2D sculpture,' he asks.
