Licenciado em Belas Artes na especialidade de gravura e desenho pela Universidade de Sevilha em 2012. Inicia o seu percurso artístico no universo do grafitti e da arte urbana, tendo realizado murais e participado em numerosos eventos em toda a Espanha, explorando diferentes linguagens expressivas em torno da pintura e do espaço urbano.

A experimentação técnica e constante em torno do desenho e da pintura e do imaginário que os molda em relação à sua noção fotográfica e ao consumo digital, define o ponto de partida do trabalho artístico de Rafael Jiménez.
No seu trabalho com a plasticina, um material cujo uso está teoricamente limitado à escultura, o artista cordovês encontra o aliado perfeito para desenvolver a matéria das suas composições. Interessado nos mecanismos de construção do imaginário coletivo que enforma a nossa História e na forma como estes se opõem aos processos individuais que articulam a memória, as suas obras propõem uma reflexão sobre o tempo, a identidade associada ao retrato como mecanismo de permanência e o homem.
A natureza manipulável destes conceitos é materializada na obra através da distorção e deformação de imagens icónicas reconhecíveis que adquiriram o estatuto de intocáveis e indiscutíveis, transformadas em imagens que não desaparecem por completo, mas que sofrem mutações e se apresentam ao espetador como realidades conhecidas, mas alteradas pelo viés da própria memória e pela perda de informação na narrativa.
He graduated in Fine Arts, specialising in engraving and drawing, from the University of Seville in 2012. He began his artistic career in the world of graffiti and urban art, having created murals and taken part in numerous events throughout Spain, exploring different expressive languages around painting and the urban space.
On work
The technical and constant experimentation around drawing and painting and the imaginary that shapes them in relation to their photographic notion and digital use, defines the starting point of Rafael Jiménez's artistic work.
In his works with plasticine, a material that, theoretically, reduces its use to the sculptural field, the Cordovan artist finds the perfect ally to develop the theme he addresses in his compositions. Interested in the mechanisms by which the collective imaginary that forms our history is constructed and in the way in which these are opposed to the individual processes that articulate memory, his works propose a reflection on time and the identity associated with the portrait as a way of permanence.
The manipulable nature of these concepts materialized in the work through the distortion and deformation of recognizable iconic images that have acquired the status of untouchables and undisputed, transformed into images that do not disappear at all, but rather mutate and appear before the viewer as known realities but altered by the bias of the memory itself and the loss of information in the history.
